She didn't even try to answer the question, "Elliot, why don't you have a wife yet? You're twenty-eight and single. I want grandchildren." She wasn't in the mood to talk about the younger brother.
She walked over to the fridge, "Do you think your father will prefer salad or fruit with his meal?"

Elliot's whole body stiffened when his mother brought up his personal business. "I'm just not ready for any of that yet mother..." He says in a low, embarrassed voice, and when the subject went to his father he had to remember that he wouldn't act out of emotion. He relaxed and thought about it for a second.
"Neither, you know father, he'll just throw them both out...I swear sometimes I think he's just a carnivore..." He says shaking his head and letting out a slight laugh.

"What do you mean that you're not ready yet?" she turned away from the food to face her son, "You're a good looking guy, you have a job, maybe you don't own your own house, but that can be changed..." she sighed, "I just want to spoil some grandchildren before I'm at death's door!" she ignored his comment about his dad being a carnivore.

Elliot stiffens again and looks her in the eye. "Please don't try to pressure me into things mother, I'll do them at my own pace." He says and sits down in a chair. "And besides, I would rather be financially stable and get out first before anything else.." He says and looks away slightly.

Rebecca made that ticking sound with her toungue, "Tsk tsk! That didn't stop your father and I from getting married now, did it?" she put a hand on her son's shoulder, "Look, I just want you to have someone..."

Elliot looks at his mother and sighs. "You got with my father because you were pregnant with me and my grandfather forced you too..." He says and just shakes his head at the other reason. "I know, but if you push me like you are, I might just do the opposite.."

If there was one thing that Rebecca wanted, it was to have grandchildren, so she decided to let the topic go...for now.
She went back to the stove as the food was starting to boil over, "Oh, and Elliot...be sure to find any salt that your father might have hiding around the house. He's not suppose to have any, but he manages to hide things..."

Elliot looks in the room where his father was and sees the salt on the TV. "I don't know if hiding's the word mother..." He says and looks back at her. "Why can't he have salt again?" He asks. Something he hated about himself is the fact that he isn't that fast to learn things so it takes some time to get stuck in his head.

She shrugged, "Something about his health. I don't know. Health stuff like that isn't my thing. She started wondering if she should make a cake...

Elliot silently sneaks towards the door. "Well you have fun with all of that Mother. I think I'm going to go get some fresh air.." He says and quickly opens the door and leaves. He could only take so much of his mother before his ability to compromise fades with her.
