Life As You Know It
Family: Living or Deceased
Grapha was orphaned as a baby. He was raised by the monks of the Greybeards.
History:
Grapha was left on the doorstep of High Hrothgar, a temple of five monks on the summit of the worlds tallest mountain, when he was weeks old. He was discovered by the monks of Akatosh, a god of the "8 Divine", an ancient religion as old as time itself. He was discovered a note that only said his surname, Sheogorath. He was raised by the Greybeards, five zealots of "The Way of the Voice" who were granted with the power of the Thu'um. As a young child, he was taught to worship the dragon god Akatosh, but he was never kept secret from his being a hunter. Ever since he could remember, the Greybeards never lied to him. They were always truthful about his being a hunter and his being left at their door. Since the boy could not deny who he was, they allowed him to train in the way of the warrior. The monks were incredibly lenient in how strict they were to the boy. At the age of ten, the boy was sent on a journey to test his skill, as is tradition for hunters. By sheer coincidence, the quest was to receive an artifact long lost by the Greybeards. The boy returned successful, not only proving his competence as a hunter, but also doing a great service to his monk guardians. Before this time, the boy had not been given a name, being told that his name would come to him when the time was right, hence, he had been going by his surname until then. Only four of the Greybeards lived in the temple, High Hrothgar. Brothers Borri, Eirnarth, Wulfgar, and Airngeir. The fifth, Parthuunax, was their leader who lived farther up the mountain, on its peak dubbed "The Throat of the World". When the boy returned with the artifact, Borri, Eirnarth and Wulfgar were waiting for him. Without speaking, they led him outside where Airngeir was waiting. Airngeir had always been the most protective and the most of a father-figure to the boy, for he was the one who volunteered to break the oath of the Greybeards to never speak a word. When the boy asked what was going on, Airngeir told him that his name had been chosen. The four Greybeards all chanted in unison in the ancient language of the dragons. The reason the Greybeards must never speak, was that the language that they spoke was enough to kill any mortal who had not received the training of the Greybeards. Airngeir was the only to know English, let alone any other language. With the boy nearly overwhelmed by the sensory, he fainted, near death itself, but he stayed awake through the entire speech, simply to not let Airngeir down. The boy memorized every word. He later awoke with Airngeir watching over him. The boy was well versed in dragon tongue, but not yet able to draw out the advanced, gutteral, pronunciation. He recited what was said to him by the Greybeards to Airngeir, to discover that he had finally been named. The boy was given the name Grapha, a dragon's name chosen by Parthuunax. From that point on, Grapha continued to travel the world, scouring for every last shread of dragon language spread across the land. That was how Grapha discovered his three gifts. First, was his love of smithing. On his journies, he learned about forging weapons and armor, making his own armor and learning arcane smithing, so as to enchant his creations. His love of creation of weapons must have come from his parents, he thought. His second gift was that his name had the favor of the 8 divines, the Daedric gods. Namira, Malog Bal, Sanguine, Hircine, Mehrunes Dagon, Miridia, Azura, and Sheogorath. The eighth of which appeared to be who Grapha's surname belonged to. His third gift, was that he was dragonborn. Over the first ten years of his life, Grapha had religiously studied the dragon language. The reason that he could not pronounce it, was that Dragonborn can only speak dragon language by tapping into the knowledge of another dragon who had been defeated in combat. Grapha had slayed many dragon from his time of 10 to 16, but he felt no remorse. In fact, he formed bonds with many of his slain bretheren. Akatosh, the god of dragons, revived his fellow dragons who had fallen in combat, so there was an infinite number of dragons to battle. Also, dragons only battled with those they deemed worthy to be their opponent, so it was considered an honor to do battle with a dragon. Since there was no loss in defeating a dragon, Grapha was chosen repeatedly and gained much knowledge on dragon language, eventually, unlocking his potential with "shouting", or using dragon language for offense. Grapha's many adventures were usually based on the discovering of who his parents were and his ties to the Daedric god of Madness, Sheogorath. He eventually found the answer, meeting each of the Daedric gods of the 8 divine who were actually fallen angels. Sheogorath was the one to give the fullest story of how his parents were the champions of his name, and when they died weeks after Grapha's birth, the least Sheogorath could do was transport their newborn son to the hands of safety. However, with all of this information, Sheogorath never revealed his parents' true identities, their side of darkness or light, or what their purpose was. Sheogorath simply claimed that telling Grapha everything would be too easy, and so Grapha continues to this day, searching for any word on who his parents were. Every year, he makes the pilgrimage to High Hrothgar to see the Greybeards once again. To this day, he has never met their leader, Parthuunax.
That thing you do
Strength:
Grapha is strong-willed, determined, and experienced. He has been many places and has seen many things. He is also very cognitive, strong, and dextrous, for he often uses more than one of his swords at once. He is very intellegentand also great at using runes and enchanting weapons that he makes, which he also has talent for.
Weakness:
Grapha is hesitant, usually either overconfident or unconfident, and reckless. If he doesn't sit in the shadows too long, sizing up his situation, he rushes in head-first which usually have consequences that follow. His anger is also a big factor. He hides it well, but hates to have to. He worries that anger will be his downfall. He also fails to apply his wits when it would be handy.
Weapon of choice:
Grapha is a swordsman. He uses four blades, three swords and a dagger. Two of his swords and his dagger were gifts from the Daedric gods. His first sword, The Hand of Malog Bal, is a slim blade that has the power to steal the magic essence of any soul it releases. This blade does not steal their soul, but its power, sending their soul to the beyond and utilizing its power for runes that grapha will later use. His second sword is Miridia's Right Hand. It is a sword that cleanses the evil of any undead it rends the flesh or bones of. This instrument cannot harm a mortal, only the undead of draugir, ghouls, vampires, lycan, or any other unholy beasts. His dagger is a gift from Mehrunes Dagon, the god of Change. This dagger has a peculiar power. It has a very slim chance of killing whatever it cuts at the very instant it cuts it. It is not specific to the first cut, just when the dagger chooses to use this effect. Grapha's fourth blade is one that he made and enchanted himself. It uses a holy aura to set ablaze whatever it strikes. Grapha also has hunter armor that he made himself from malachite. His armor is enchanted to protect him from the strikes of the impure, nullifying any pure evil intentions that the armor's runes are strong enough to deflect. If the evil is stronger than the runes, it merely lessens the damage less and less. His gauntlets are enchanted to bring speed and power behind the swings of his blades. His boots are enchanted with the power to silence his feet when in motion, but not all the way.
